Carbon Dioxide Fire Extinguisher: As the name suggests, the extinguisher contains pressurized liquid carbon dioxide compressed in a small cylinder. When extinguishing a fire, it is sprayed out, which has the effect of lowering the temperature and isolating the air. It is suitable for extinguishing Class B fires (such as kerosene, diesel, crude oil, methanol, ethanol, asphalt, paraffin, etc.) Class C fires (such as coal gas, natural gas, methane, ethane, propane, ammonia, etc.) and Class E fires (fires involving energized objects).Dry Powder Fire Extinguisher: Dry powder fire extinguishers contain inorganic salts. Water-based (water mist) fire extinguishers have unparalleled flame retardancy. Water-based fire extinguishers are not affected by indoor, outdoor, or windy environments. The extinguishing agent can act on the surface of the burning material to the maximum extent. Water-based fire extinguishers are environmentally friendly, the extinguishing agent is 100% biodegradable after extinguishing, and will not pollute the surrounding equipment or space; they are highly flame-retardant and have strong anti-reignition properties; they are fast-acting and have extremely strong penetration.
Working Principle
Dry powder extinguishing agents mainly extinguish fires through physical and chemical actions that occur when the powder mist sprayed under the action of pressurized gas comes into contact with and mixes with the flame. Firstly, the volatile decomposition products of the inorganic salts in the dry powder have a chemical inhibitory and co-catalytic effect on the free radicals or active groups produced by the fuel during combustion, thus interrupting the chain reaction of combustion and extinguishing the fire. Secondly, the powder falls on the surface of the combustible material, undergoes a chemical reaction, and forms a glassy coating under high temperature, thus isolating oxygen and extinguishing the fire by suffocation. In addition, there is also a partial oxygen dilution and cooling effect.
After spraying, the water-based (water mist) fire extinguisher forms a water mist, instantly evaporating a large amount of heat from the fire scene, rapidly reducing the fire temperature, and suppressing heat radiation. The surfactant quickly forms a water film on the surface of the combustible material, isolating oxygen, and achieving a dual effect of cooling and isolation, while participating in fire extinguishing, thus achieving rapid fire extinguishing.
Carbon dioxide (CO2) fire extinguishers can be used on Class B, C, and E fires. The working principle is to displace the air, causing the fire to lose oxygen and extinguish.
